GreenSportsBlogger Goes Multimedia With "Green Gotham" On MNN-TV

5

The GreenSportsBlogger is going multi-media! I will be hosting Green Gotham, a half-hour TV show, on the exciting green/sustainability goings-on in NYC, arguably the greenest big city in the US*. The show will air on Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN).
Some of you may recall I was interviewed last summer on MNN, Counterculture with Kweli Washington. In case you didn’t see it, here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeDbZwDbkEY
Reaction to the show was quite positive, and, thanks to the incredible efforts of producer Candice Delevante, I’ve been invited to host an MNN show–Green Gotham!
The idea is simple: While almost everyone knows that New York City is the finance, media, fashion and creative capital of the US if not the world (are we stuck up or WHAT?!), most don’t know New York is also, arguably, the greenest city in the country*. Our carbon footprint per capita is low because of our comprehensive mass transit system. We drive less and live in (very) small spaces, relative to folks in other cities. But what’s most interesting to me are the thriving green businesses, non-profits, clean tech startups, etc., that are making Green Gotham even greater and GREENER.
Those are the stories–and the people who are authoring them–Green Gotham will focus on. The half hour interview show will air on Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN), the local cable access channel  available to Time Warner Cable, RCN and Verizon FIOS subscribers in Manhattan ONLY.
Now, if you don’t live in Manhattan, don’t fret. The show will be rebroadcast on YouTube and via Vimeo.
The Green Gotham pilot is scheduled to shoot in mid-late June and will be aired on delayed tape. As soon as we know the air dates and when the show will stream online, we will post it here. 5-10 subsequent episodes are expected to follow.
* Sorry Denver, Portland and Seattle, there is no argument!
