The tenth annual Green Sports Alliance Summit, scheduled for June 17-18 at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Alliance announced the postponement of its signature annual event Wednesday. A new date is to be determined. There was no word as to whether the rescheduled tenth anniversary Summit would still be held in the Twin Cities.
“The health and well-being of our members, partners, staff, and all those within our community are of the utmost priority to us,” Alliance Executive Director Roger McClendon said in a statement. “As a result, we’ve made the decision to reschedule our Summit in an effort to keep our attendees, hosts, and regional partners safe. The shutdown of the sports industry has been difficult for everyone, and we hope that by moving our event, we can better support our industry and the greater sports greening movement. Our thoughts are with all of those impacted during these challenging times.”
GSB’s Take: It couldn’t have been easy for the Alliance’s leadership to postpone the tenth anniversary Summit. But it was the only decision they could make in the midst of this perilous pandemic.
